It is much better than a black dial. The blue reflects very well in sunlight however the watch is not flashy! He loves it. It is georgous, but not flashy. The color/s of the watch make you look twice at it...sometimes deep blue, sometimes bright blue. It reminds us of volga blue granite...very classy. We looked at A LOT of watches before landing on this one, some more expensive, some less, but this one was the winner. We are very happy with the purchase.
